Imagine the emotions of the followers of Jesus after they laid His body in the tomb. He was dead. Their messiah, their king, their rabbi, their friend - dead. The mourning and sadness they felt Friday night and all day Saturday must have been suffocating. The last thing they expected to see was an empty tomb on Sunday morning.
And yet, that is what they found. They found an empty tomb just as Jesus had promised them, even if they had forgotten all about the promises He made. God showed up in a very unexpected way in the midst of their sorrow, grief and pain. This is a great reminder to each one of us that no matter what season of life we find ourselves in, we can expect the unexpected with God. This Sunday, I hope to share with you why this is a good thing. Listen to this week's sermon "An Unexpected Answer" to find out more!
